‘PENELOPE’ (2006) and Self-Acceptance | Review & Discussion

Hello, everyone! In my new review, I’m going to be discussing the film romance-fantasy film, ‘Penelope’ (2006)! It centres around a young noble woman born with the face of a pig due to a family curse, which can only be broken once she has been accepted by one of her own kind. After years of failed matchmaking attempts while being hidden away by her parents, Penelope escapes in disguise, where she discovers acceptance and friendship and realises that she must love herself before anyone else can.

I watched this film many times as a child, and while I remembered specific scenes well, I wanted to find out whether it had held up. Is this film truly under-rated?
